Instructor Alex is a traditional martial artist with over 14 years of experience under his belt. He started his training under 9th dan grandmaster Young Cheol Park, former Canadian national team coach, Korean marine core team member and professor of police foundations in the faculty of martial arts in Kyongsang university in Busan Korea.
Starting off as a student he eventually transitioned into an instructor position and has been teaching for over 5 years. Initially training solely in Taekwondo, he eventually started cross training and competing in Hapkido, Kendo, Weaponry, Boxing and Shotokan Karate. He specializes in Bo staff and nunchucks but is very versatile in sword and eskrima as well. In addition to being one of the head instructors at his old club he has also competed for and coached the Ryerson University taekwondo club team members when he attended school in Toronto. He has competed in and won dozens of tournaments in both Taekwondo and Karate.
When he is not teaching in club, Instructor Alex has often run seminars and taught martial arts and self defense to at risk youth and adults through various non profit organizations such as Positive Living, which contributed to him being one of the youngest people to have ever been awarded the 15 year volunteer service award by the Legislative Assembly of Ontario at the age of 21.
